Dark-Eyed Junco(s) (composite) (Junco hyemalis)

I put this composite together to illustrate the variance in the species. From left to right: Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon species) female; Dark-eyed Junco (Slate colored species, 1st winter male): Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon species-male); Dark-eye Junco (Slate colored- 1st winter); Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon species-male); bird sitting low on rail, Dark-Eyed Junco (Oregon species-male). Note in all of the Oregon species there are still some slight variance in the plumage. These are all migrant birds taken in my yard. The Slate-colored are from beyond the Rocky mountains. The Oregon species can be from as far away and Northern Canada. All six birds were taken at different exposures, but in the same light (otherwise the composite would not work), so the EXIF (in the Equipment field) data is accurate for only one of the images.

Back again Mark, just to say that I flagged your image up to the Opus Editors, and they agreed that it would be a great addition to the Opus article.

It's now in place.

Many thanks, again, for putting this together.

This is excellent work! I'm so glad you've got that one slate-colored with a small bit of brown on the back.
