Dark-eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis)

My winter flock of these delightful birds has arrived for the season and they are such charmers. I seem to have quite a few of them this year but with fewer Song and White-throated Sparrows traveling with the mixed Sparrow flock. I hope to see some American Tree Sparrows and Field Sparrows in with this flock this winter.

The image is very good. Nice resolution and sharpness in the head and breast area. DOF begings to fall off a bit frm the wing-bent on. (AOC) area of confussion, the area of focus in front of and behind the primary focus on long lenses is very narrow. So, that being said, try using higher DOF values ( f 8.0 and above). I might crop the bird to the right a bit more. Don't think I'm being too critical. ;) I only say this because you have good images, and now you have the 500mm, potential just went up; time to take advantage of it. Good image :t::t: :t: :t: :D

Wow...glad you are putting photos back in the gallery..they have been missed by us all.
