Derby Hill on Lake Ontario

Red Tailed Hawk late migration
Habitat
Lake Ontario migration Route
Date taken

Equipment used
Canon 40D & 400f5.6
Excellent picture Mikbul!

However, I believe it is a juvenile Broad-winged Hawk. Notice that it has 4 "fingers" at the end of it's wings and a characteristic thin black stripe in the middle of it's throat.

Thanks to both of you and you're correct CEASAR it's a Juvenile Broad Winged not a Red-Tail. I did get a shot of a Red tailed the same day but he popped up right over the trees like this Broad winged on a mission to get north and surprised me and by the time I got the 400mm lens on him and got a shot it was his red butt going over the trees behind me! I was ready for this one (as much as you can be) and got in ten shots but a few are a bit soft. (Still coming to terms with this long lens against the sky late in the morning)
