do they bite?
this is a female black-tipped darner, i wasn't worried about being bitten but that large ovipositor made me nervous. the ovipositor is used to pierce plant stems such as cattails and then an egg is deposited therein. once she got her bearings though, she simply flew away.

Wow..what a picture the coolpix has worked a wonder on a little gem.

To answer the question "do they bite?" I am sorry I do not know. I'd put up with it though ,to have a photo like this in my album

Call me crazy, but that's a beautiful animal. Great shot, and jealous again, one of the few Aeshna of the NW I haven't seen yet.
