The Double-toothed Barbet (Lybius bidentatus) is a colorful bird native to the tropical forests and woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. It gets its name from the distinctive notched edges, or "teeth," on its heavy bill. This medium-sized barbet has striking plumage, with bright red underparts, a black head and back, and white patches on its wings and face. It primarily feeds on fruits, but also consumes insects and small invertebrates. Double-toothed Barbets are known for their loud, repetitive calls and often nest in tree cavities, which they excavate themselves.
