Downy Woodpecker (Picoides pubescens)

Had lots of birds at the feeder this AM so tried to catch a few shots. Had 5 Eastern Bluebirds at one time but by the time I slid the door open to get a shot they had fled. Did catch a couple of small woodpeckers. I really need to take a page from Deanne's book and start working from a blind at the feeder, would get lots more shots.

I know what you mean. Taking shots in the garden without a blind can be quite frustrating - but I must confess I love the freedom of hand-held shooting. Having said that, I'll probably invest in a blind this Spring - and would I ever like to see some Bluebirds!

Love this shot of the Downey! Always a treat when this little bird's about! Well done!

A wonderful shot of this little Woodie Ken.

Blinds work wonderfully unless you have a pooch that insists on being in one with you ;)

Lovely Pecker shot Ken, go for that blind buddy, happy new year to you and your family, have a great 2009.
