Looking at its beak I'm thinking this is a Hairy Woodpecker and so nicely captured.
I was going back and forth in trying to figure out which one it is, reading that Hairy Woodpeckers are very skittish compared to the Downy's is what made me believe it was a Downy as he had no qualms about me being not too far from him clicking away. I have more that I will post tomorrow of him that will maybe help distinguish as to exactly which one it is. I'm still completely new as yesterday was only my second time out with my camera.
