Super shot, welcome to Birdforum.Net, look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanx Marmot and Mali...

You know I am pretty useless at the moment with the types of birds.. I have a book somewhere and it might be a good time to start researching before I post..

So.. I must confess.. I don't know :-(

As I started loading the photographs I took I realised that I will have to study the birds otherwise I will make an ass of myself :)

Maybe one of the more knowledgeable people can help.

Cheers

It looks like the Red-billed Oxpecker (Buphagus erythrorhynchus) but as I don't know all South African birds I don't know if there are more species similar to this Oxpecker...

Many thanks for posting... and for the giggle!!! :-O :t: :t:

Smashing capture - nice to see birds in their natural habitat! :t::t::t:

Thanx all, specially madamecoolpix for identifying the Red-billed Oxpecker.

I am certain that you are right. Will add one of an Oxpecker with a giraffe as well. Very cool pic.

Cheers
:)
