Jungle ...

This image was taken
at a clearing in
the forest in

Dudhwa National Park

... another
Tiger Reserve ... and
last leg of our
trip this time ...

Established much
before the
Pilibhit Tiger Reserve
it is home to
Tiger, leopard
Asian Elephant
Indian One-horned Rhino
Sloth Bear and
Laughing Hyena ...

... a host of other
animals and 400
species of birds ..

Together, the two
forms a near
contiguous stretch of
Terai Wilderness ...
( ... efforts are on
to make them
continuous ... )

Seen here is a group
of Chital Deer

peacefully ...
They form an
important prey-base
for the big cats ...

They form a prey base, but they also thrive where there are predators, as long as the two are in balance. At least, that's how it is with Mule Deer and Mountain Lions where I come from, or (so I've read) Antilope and Wolves in the Yellowstone.
Lovely image of this healthy flock |=)|
