Eared Grebes (Podiceps nigricollis)

By far, the most numerous bird I observed at the Henderson bird Viewing Preserve near Las Vegas. There were anywhere from 6-50 of these on each of the 8 ponds full of water inside the preserve(there are 9 ponds, but pond #4 was mostly drained).

The most grebes I'd ever seen before together was four back in Michigan, where we see migrant Horned Grebes and Pied-billed Grebes.
