Eastern Black-eared Wheatear - dark throated (Oenanthe melanoleuca)

Properties in sea side villages, on Lesvos and other Greek islands, are mostly summer residences occupied from mid June to September.
Whilst on an early morning strole I discovered a pair of these wheatears nesting in the garage of an unoccupied villa, surrounded by olive and fruit trees at the southern end of the village.
By mid May the young had fledged and were flying around the garden as the adults tried to fend off the local jays and middle spotted woodpecker.
