Eastern Black Swallowtail visitor! (Papilio polyxenes)

This beautiful Eastern Black Swallowtail has been coming to the balcony grove for a couple of days now. I'm thrilled by the photos I've gotten to date!

This butterfly also proves how tenacious they are. He's got a partially damaged wing.

Butterfly wings get damaged so easily, don't they.

What a wonderful picture you've taken of this swallowtail Erika; many thanks for showing it to us lass.

Thank you Delia!

At first I just got a shot of it in flight. All you can see is the silhouette of the butterfly, in black, no color showing.
So, I was really happy to get this bunch of shots. These are my favorite so I was selective.
