Gulf Coast Marshes and Prairies vegetation area, barrier island. Margin of a marsh with native and planted shrubs and trees at ca. 1 m (3.3 ft) elevation.

An interesting closeup of this kingbird on a nice perch. I like the eye contact, which makes the bird appear quite intelligent and astute. The black cap, greyish back and overall two-tone plumage almost remind me of a chickadee.
