Eastern Whip-poor-will returns!
A week or so ago, I posted an older photo of a whip-poor-will from November 2019. Then just this Sunday, walking out at the local wetlands, I was able to spot one again...the first one I've seen since that last one. They're NOT easy to spot! And as usual, they like to sit quietly during the day in a very shady spot, making them much more difficult to photograph...I had to handhold a 600mm lens at 1/200 (thank you, stabilization!) and crank up to ISO 3,200.

A quality bird and very similar looking to the Nightjar we have in the UK.

Considering the settings and lens used, that's an excellent return.

Lucky you. Have only seen a nightjar once in India. And that was because it decided to fly on to a dirt track to feed on ants that were in eruption. Have not had any luck since. Fabulous shot to boot.
