This red belly woodpecker frequents this tree near the dock. It is shy and elusive and jumpy so very difficult to get a clear focused shot as it is usually in shadow. The tree is a tallow, which unfortunately is an exotic. People originally planted them because the leaves turn a beautiful burgundy red in the fall. On an up note, the birds love the berries. Down note, they pass the seeds and new trees sprout.....The state parks in Florida work to eradicate these trees within the parks. Plant nurseries are now discouraged from selling these trees.
