Emerald Toucanet (Aulacorhynchus prasinus)

Emerald Toucanet. This subspecies is also known as the Blue-throated Toucanet (Aulacorhynchus prasinus caeruleogularis) Seventeen subspecies have been described with three being placed in synonym leaving fourteen subspecies recognized of this beautiful Toucanet. Two are found in Panama. The Blue-throated Toucanet is found in western Panama to Central Panama including subspecies maxillaris which is synonymized under subspecies caeruleogularis. Subspecies cognatus known as the Violet-throated or Nelsons Toucanet is found in eastern Panama. Photographed near La Mesa, north of El Valle de Antn, Cocl Province, Panama. Secondary humid forest at ca. 823 m (2,700 ft) elevation. Sexes similar.

If it weren't for that bill, I think I would have a hard time zeroing in on this Toucanet.
