Eurasian Blackcap (male)

Eurasian Blackcap (male) (Sylvia atricapilla)

I was sure I'd already posted this, but apparently not. It remains the only warbler I've seen this year. I was alerted by hearing its song through the open lounge window. I dashed there, and after I'd followed movement in the foliage for a couple of minutes, the bird finally came into view for three or four seconds. The image could be better, but it was a relief to get anything at all!

This is the first shot I've posted since a Jay, which some may remember. That bird seemed to be thoroughly bedraggled and dishevelled after bathing, and looked rather comical. But I've examined all the fifty photos I took and very unfortunately it looks more likely that it was in a right mess after having been attacked by a cat, although it recovered enough to fly away and there's hope that it survived. I've deleted the pic from the Gallery but may post some of the images in the appropriate forum and ask for opinions there.

Meanwhile I hope you're all safe and well. As always, thank you for your comments on my photos.

You did well to get such a lovely portrait of this blackcap, John. What a shame if the jay had been attacked.

excellent photo of this lovely warbler, John, well spotted! they're real skulkers here, they don't show, even not for a few seconds, no way to take a photo. Many thanks for sharing.
Hope the jay will recover!
Stay safe, JJ

Lovely capture John...I hate cats, damn things come and sh*t in my garden and sit waiting to try and catch birds, unless I hoof them off.
