Eurasian-collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto)

Smokey skies here from the huge (94 sq. miles) wildfire going on in our small county. I have to say that we have over 3,000 of the bravest firefighters and law enforcement people trying to keep up with it in very rugged country. I ask for your prayers that it's soon brought under control.

I've been watching the fire news on various internett sources. Takes me back to some really frightening nights in my youth, with Dad and brother out volunteering and all our photos, paintings, one suitcase each and the portable instruments packed in the hallway in case of evacuation. I hope those brave firefighters get control over it soon, and safely!

sorry to hear about the fire hope all is OK now.

thanks for this super closeup for this beautiful dove, not sure if the ones we get here the same but our collared ones have very distinctive calls, just like blowing on a horn.

Great capture Vicki with that lovely red eye and glorious coloured background. My thoughts are wishes are with you and all the agencies, to end the outbreak soon.
