Eurasian Oystercatcher (Haematopus ostralegus)

Oystercatchers are one of the first birds to be seen on the shores at the beginning of spring migration at Trondheim, Norway. Doc Duck and I went to look for them on Sunday, no luck. After several kilometers of hike along the fjord, I finally found a group of about 15 today. I tried to crawl up to them to get a closer shot, that didn't work out. Finally managed to get this shot after 30 minutes of lying down on the icy stones.
I'm using a Nikon D7000 with Sigma 150-600mm sport lens and I'm still not getting the advertised results with sharpness and details. Can anyone suggest what I can do better?

Your patience and cold tummy paid off! I can't suggest how to make sharper pictures, I'm afraid.

That's a gorgeous picture of this handsome wader Majsujan.

Oh gosh!!! Your pictures look fine to me, so I can only suggest you post in the Nikon forum ; I'm sure someone in there would be able to help you.

Thanks! I looked it up and apparently D7000 is known for focusing and sharpness problems. The sensor is not good enough for professional bird photography. I'm thinking of switching to D500.
