Eurasian Red Squirrel - Sciurus vulgaris (Sciurus vulgaris)

The UK's indigenous squirrel sadly now hard to find thanks to the wretched 'grey plague'.
I'd stand any amount of these beauties on my feeders.

A fabulous portrait of this gorgeous red squirrel, John. We were lucky enough to see them in the Lake District last year.

They are a delight to see aren't they Kits and so much more attractive than the greys I reckon.

Super capture of this little one! I'd never get tired of feeding or photographing one of these adorable squirrels!

I think IoW is one of the English strongholds for them, isn't it. Fortunately we have them round here as the Greys haven't really made it to this area (at least not in any numbers and I've not seen one yet).

A gorgeous picture you've taken of this sweetiepie John. Very well done lad.

May I wish you and your family a very happy 2019.

My thanks to you all Vicki , Delia and Stanley.
Lets hope one day these beauties make a comeback across the UK eh.

I hear the latest attempts to control the greys are the re introduction of pine martens to areas where they once thrived together with feeding peanuts containing a birth control agent. Lets hope the latter is species specific otherwise we'll be in more trouble !

A very happy and prosperous New Year to you all and your families.

John
