Female, Common Whitetail Dragonfly
Flicker the Halfling

Female, Common Whitetail Dragonfly (Plathemis lydia)

I took this photo around June, 25th, 2013. At that time I knew nothing about dragonflies or damselfly's. I still don't! lol I was looking on a site to try to identify this dragonfly and I almost thought she was a Prince Baskettail. Long story short, when I first read the name for the Prince Baskettail I thought it said Basketball. Cracked me up when I realized it was a Baskettail. lol
Anyway, I found this dragonfly up at Major Mackenzie drive and Bathurst St., near the hospital, as I was taking a walk. There were a whole congregation of them flying around. It was lovely to come upon! I will post a link to the site I found in the comments. I found it quite useful!

A great top view and so nicely detailed! A beautiful capture of this Dragonfly Flicker!

What a wonderful pattern on her wings. A very well detailed and focused study. Your narrative made me chuckle!

Really cool Sis! I have a dragon fly photo that looks just like this. It must be teh same kind.
I love that you thought it was a basketball dragon fly. So funny!;)
