Female Northern Cardinal

Female Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis)

Everyone likes the Male but I see the Female as attractive too. They are more distinguished with their markings and colors. As you see this one has red marks as well and brown and orange. Really different than the all Red though I had a mutant the other day of sorts with the male having some yellow. As you see her tuft is laying down. I have read this means they aren't stressed whereas if the tuft is erected it means not as relaxed.

What a cracking picture you've got here Daniel. A really lovely looking bird this one.

Actually I'm wondering if that's a sub-adult male, just beginning to get some adult plumage. That facial mask looks a little too black for a female. But I could be very wrong LOL.

She is so pretty, Daniel, and that is a lovely portrait of her.

they're indeed very beautiful with those delicate colors, Daniel, and the detail in this wonderful photo are awesome, top marks, many tfs!!!
