Female Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus)

I didn't post this as a great photo, but as an aid to telling a sad tale.

This Sparrowhawk landed right in front of me this morning, just on the other side of a small clearing & proceeded to relax, raising one foot, so I was excited cause I thought I had lots of time to watch it.

Sadly, it settled right behind a bunch of branches, but worse was to follow, for no sooner had it settled itself, when a blankety blank Helicopter flew over & spooked it! :-(

Next time, I'll be taking a SAM Missile Launcher with me, ........... just in case! ;-)
