Female Wigeon?

OK, this I'm sure is a female wigeon, tell me if I'm wrong, I thought it was a Female Pochard, but the wing pattern is different.

Pretty sure you got it right Steve, struggle too with ducks in eclipse, got one wrong last night....that was Mallard hybrid, I took for Pochard! So don't put your wages on my say so, but do think this is Female Wigeon.

Certainly a Eurasian wigeon, but likely an eclipse male. Not certain as the white retained upper forewing patch isn't visible (often covered by the breast feathers when swimming) that would confirm this. However it does look a bit too rufous/red-brown for a female and the head pattern is very uniform. Any other photos showing the white patch on the edge of the wing?

Fabulous profile of this gorgeous female Steve. It looks like a freighter fixing to broadside a tugboat (lol). Awesome!!!!!!

Definitely a wigeon but I'm not sure if it's male or female. Thanks for sharing.
