Fernbird
These uncommon secretive birds of wet lowlands are related to the Australian Grassbirds (Megalurinae). Five subspecies are recognized, this being the highly distinctive M. p. caudatus endemic to the Snares Islands. It is characterized by its large size, lighter brown coloration, and paler more diffuse streaking. The almost unstreaked crown blends to reddish-brown on its forehead. It has been suggested that this unique race may deserve recognition as a separate species. I suspect the woody plant is probably a Tree Daisy (Olearia lyallii). Corrections or confirmation are welcome.

A sweet wee bird this Joe, and you've a lovely picture of him nestled in the bush.

You did well to lock the focus on him too in there. Very well done my friend.
