Festive Tiger Beetle
Festive Tiger Beetle (Cicindela scutellaris flavoviridis: Carabidae) This is the same species that I posted January 2, 2011. That one was the nominate subspecies taken in Dickens County and this one is subspecies flavoviridis taken in Willacy County. Photographed north of Raymondville, Willacy County, Texas, U.S.A. Coastal prairie over inland sand dunes, Lower Rio Grande Valley in the lower portion of the Gulf Prairies and Marshes Vegetational Area.

Hi Stanley, what a superbly colour beetle, they look pretty fearsome from the front with those big jaws, great image.
 
Had to see what could be festive about a beetle. I guess this one really is dressed for a gala occasion :D
