Fiery Skipper (Hylephila phyleus)

Skippers get their name from their flight style as they seem to skip rapidly from flower to flower. This is a male. Fiery Skipper is a member of the "Grass Skipper" group. They typically pose with their forewings partly closed but the hindwings open wide as seen here. This is sometimes called the "jet plane" position.

With the name 'fiery' I'd have thought it would be red LOL.

You've taken a marvellous picture of this skipper Joe - many thanks my friend.
