I saw a very interesting fight today. Two White-throated Treecreepers were fighting. First I thought one is white-throated and other is different but I think they are both same.Anyway; any identification help about the upside one is welcome :)
Great shot! I'd say that they weren't exactly fighting. The one on the top seems to be a female (see the orange spot on her cheek?) and the lower one a male. So it might be a fight - males and females don't get on together - or it might be a courtship thing (yes, White-throated Treecreepers are weird), or maybe one of them is a youngster getting kicked out of the family home. (Brown Treecreepers eject the young females, I don't know about White-throated.)
I do know that White-throated Treecreepers, most unlike all the other treecreeper species - are anti-social and don't like each other much. At home we have a regular pair that roost on the walls of the house - but they have seperate walls! He sleeps on the north side, she has the south side. You hardly ever see them together. I believe that they feed seperately too: one of them tends to feed higher up in the canopy than the other.
Like the distinctive orang band in the wing: the colour cuts right through the secondary and primary feathers. Don't see this often. Good shot. :t: :t: :t:
