Flight 1 - WEGU

Flight 1 - WEGU (Larus occidentalis)

I was especially happy with some of the flight shots I got out on the bluff while SIL and her team did the Friday morning nesting survey - most of all with the series I got of an Osprey flying past us at just over eye level. Of the 8 Osprey-flyby shots that were worth editing, I think I'll share 5 - 2 today and 3 tomorrow. But here to kick off my flight series is this misleadingly angelic-looking Western Gull. It's just the bright light that makes him seem angelic. In reality, they can be rather brutish.

Great wing detail in this beautiful aerial image Ann!

I think the relatively dark eye adds to the "angelic" appearance. Common (Mew) Gulls have dark eyes, which gives them a "gentle" expression, but in reality their manners are no better than those of any other gull. Anyway, nice shot Ann! Especially in difficult lighting.

That's a cracker Ann... love how the light is catching his hindwing.
