Flycatchers

Flycatchers

Two species of flycatcher easily confused. The top one is a Rufous-breasted Blue flycatcher and the lower two sketches are Blue-throated Flycatcher. These are little gems that flit around the undergrowth, hard to see in full sunlight and very tricky to draw satisfactorily through bins. I love the blue-orange combo - which seems to be quite a common colouration for birds of dark undergrowth - does anyone have any idea why? is it something to do with seeing in the UV range of the spectrum?
Habitat
Thick undergrowth.
Location
Darjeeling
Equipment used
Nikon Travelite, pencil, watercolour, paper.
Many thanks!

These pictures are from a trip I took a few years ago, I will soon be posting more up-to-date drawings but Ill keep putting a few 'exotics' in my gallery. I need reminded that its sunny and warm somewhere in the world even if Edinburgh is drowning!
