Foraging cranes

Foraging cranes (Grus grus)

In Spain, wintering cranes use open agricultural landscapes and "dehesas" (very open forest of evergreen/cork oaks -eventually other species- with agriculture or extensive pasture combined use) in their daily search of food. In these conditions they are wary and don't let you approach easily. These group feeds among vineyards and ploughed land around Laguna de Manjavacas, Cuenca (Central Spain)

How lovely to see a group of these elegant birds. We're lucky if we get a single one visit us during the winter.

A super picture this Fernando, many thanks.

A wonderful behavioural shot, so nicely composed too.
