thanks, i've only just started getting into birding, bought a field guide yesterday and went back and forth between the two species but couldn't tell! time for another look i guess
edit: ah I see, this one looks to be an immature forest kingfisher, will update my photo, thanks!
No worries chook, if you're in doubt anytime just use the search facility at the top of each page and you will find heaps of pictures of the Azure and Forest to compare. Last time I was at Boondall wetlands there was nothing but Ibis, Noisy Miners and Crows. There is a great little Mangrove boardwalk at the Northern end of the Moreton Bay that has a good variety, also there is a wetland area at the Port of Brisbane, usually plenty of raptors around there.
cheers, the boondall wetlands seems a decent place for a variety of bird types, i really enjoyed my morning there, the kingfisher really made it great! also spotted a nesting tawny frogmouth and a few egrets, curlew, and got a nice shot of a chestnut teal (i think) pair I should upload.
another spot i enjoy walking around is karawatha forest park, alot of variety there, parrots, kookaburra, some waterfowl and many smaller finch like birds that i need to identify.
