Forest Kingfisher

Forest Kingfisher (Todiramphus macleayii)

The tale behind this bird is interesting. I stood about 10' away and shot and shot and shot with my reasonable but fully automatic Lumix point and shoot.

Bloody thing would NOT focus on the bird but on the foliage behind. I finally coaxed one shot ....and when I got back from Australia I set aside $1000 for a MFT kit to use travelling and on the motorcycle. The Gx1 is tiny and the lenses are a treat. This shot reminds me of that move to a camera I wasn't entirely dependent on the technology tho I would say 80% of my shots are point and shoot ...at least I CAN have some control.

Now I am not 100% certain it's not a Forest..

That's a lovely picture David.

They're beautiful kingfishers, aren't they. Very well done getting this picture lad.

Thanks all- do we have an agreement it is a Sacred ?? It does not seem blue enough for a forest.
I've decided it's a Forest
