Four's a Rabble
I'm not sure that another sparrow could have got onto that feeder. I went through a phase of having to refill the fat balls a couple of times a day, between the sparrows and starlings they could eat them all in a couple of hours.

A few days after this picture, the birds had all gone, not to be seen again for over a month. In fact they're only just making their way back now.

I'd not seen so many House Sparrows on that particular feeder before, and thought it would make my Saturday Fun entry for this week.

Those fat balls are so big so how the heck can they eat them so quickly and their stomachs can't be that big???? A great image and SF image D.

A very fine collection of House Sparrows here, Delia! I was out yesterday and saw almost nothing but we had tits bathing in our bird-bath today and jays collecting acorns. The first thrush flocks have begun passing though too. There are an awful lot of rowanberries this year and some have already turned black.

superb photo of these sparrows busy feeding, Delia, I can imagine the fat balls don't last very long with these guys, top class, many tfs!!
