From the ferry - 6 (Phalacrocorax punctatus)

And yet another lifer :D I'm pretty sure this was a Spotted Shag. I may also have seen Black Shag and Pied Shag from the ferry, but the only shots of Cormorants that were clear enough for a confident ID were of this one, and that white cheek/neck patch trailed by a narrow white "speed stripe" over a dark throat looks like Spotted to me. When I crop in as close as I can and still see anything more than blur, I also think I see a hint of green lores in at least one shot I got of this one, but that could be a color distortion when cropping so far. I did get much better shots of Spotteds later, but this (well, actually the frame before it) was my lifer shot of one - and it could be that the ones I saw later had been split off into a separate species. I'll double check that when I get there in the chronology.

Now off to the gym, then home to make dinner, then catch up on browsing plus finish knitting a mitten and start on its mate.
