Gannet's in Trouble (Morus bassanus)

Five one morning and found these Gannets trapped in a piece of discarded fishing Net I could not see the net at first and was busy taking a few shots when they moved and I could see the net . On with the wellies and a slippy scramble over the Rocks as I approached the birds they headed for the sea I just managed to grabb one as a wave came over the wellies Brrrr! it was cold. All hell broke lose then two Gannets biting me as hard as they could I managed to free one which headed out to sea the other was a bigger job but finaly I got him free only to be bitten on the wrist which removed some skin. Poor bird it was to exhausted to move it just sat on it's belly , I retired very wet to the car and watched for a while it managed to swim of after a hour. I headed home for some dry clothes and a brew reflecting on the mess wee are making of our Planet.

Excellent work - many congratulations on your endeavours. :t: :t: The scariest bird I rescued was a cormorant and I found that a sweatshirt dropped over the bird's head saved me from being skinned by that wicked beak. Rescuing two birds was heroic!

Excellent work i hope it made you feel good about what you did for these birds you certainly deserve a a good pat on the back for your effort with these birds very well done.
Nearly forgot the picture is super as well.thank you.

Top man Jim,you done a great job !!!! But worried over a couple of nips from those little beaks lol

What a wonderful but moving encounter JT!! I bet you will sleep peacefully tonight Mate !! congrats on saving these birds!! Back in the day when I was a photographer I took an image of this rescueded Gull, that had lost both its feet to fishermans twine and had it published in the local paper , I did not knock the the fishermen but politely suggested that they endeavor to collect there discarded weights and line at low tide,,,, I had my Dentist take impressions of the Gulls stumps and a friend who made false faces for cancer victims made a set of false webs for Tapper as he was affectionally called.... well done JT :t::t::t:
