Gannet's in Trouble (Morus bassanus)

Five one morning and found these Gannets trapped in a piece of discarded fishing Net I could not see the net at first and was busy taking a few shots when they moved and I could see the net . On with the wellies and a slippy scramble over the Rocks as I approached the birds they headed for the sea I just managed to grabb one as a wave came over the wellies Brrrr! it was cold. All hell broke lose then two Gannets biting me as hard as they could I managed to free one which headed out to sea the other was a bigger job but finaly I got him free only to be bitten on the wrist which removed some skin. Poor bird it was to exhausted to move it just sat on it's belly , I retired very wet to the car and watched for a while it managed to swim of after a hour. I headed home for some dry clothes and a brew reflecting on the mess wee are making of our Planet.

Nice story and great picture to go with it. Congratulations on your rescue and commiserations on your injuries. Sorry haven't had much net access lately to keep up with your posts.

Give that man a medal

The only animal I have helped rescue was a deer, which was trapped on a wire fence in the Chilterns. Not sure I'd have known what to do here though - very brave and kind of you.
