I washed my feeders a few weeks ago. Have had only one greenfinch so far this year, whereas I usually have dozens emptying the feeder on a daily basis. But I think there's another cause here as well. About four years back we had a late Spring freeze that killed off a whole season of woodland berries. That winter there were way fewer of our winter-staying woodland birds that survived. Then the numbers started picking up again, but I think we'll have a generation gap that will keep rippling through the bird population every few years for a while.

I've not seen or heard a Greenfinch up here for a long time now.

You've a lovely picture of this lovely guy S&S - very well done my friends.

I always make sure they have fresh water and a great choice of food selections. Great looking bird haven't seen hardly any that color.
