'Ghost of the Fens'- male hen harrier hunting (Circus cyaneus)

  • Gleb Berloff
I have only been so frustrated with the oriole. The hen harriers had such a turbulent flight it was impossible to picture them well enough. Thankfully they sat in place before flying around. This male arrived at Wicken Fen very early for them and spent half an hour hunting with a female before settling down to roost

LOL it is rather ghost-like, isn't it Gleb.

You did well to spot him in the gloom I think. Well done lad.

Thank you. The biggest issue was not with spotting him, it was convincing my camera to work. It worked eventually, but I wasted 20 minutes on that. Such a shame they were so far away all the time

I feel your pain my Nikon B700 doesn't always focus quickly sometimes you only have a mere of a second. Photography is hard at times yet can be so rewarding when everything goes right. Thanks for the shot.
