Glowworm larva
This is a larval stage of Fungus gnat, Arachnocampa richardsae. It creates threads covered with sticky mucous droplets to snare prey which is attracted to the glow.
This is a 13 second exposure lit with a dim red light. Light tends to stop them from glowing.
It seems that every photographic subject has its own challenges - for glowworms, it is nearly impossible to position the tripod close to a glowworm, you can't focus because it's pitch dark (and you have to be able to work your camera controls in the dark), it's cold, wet and muddy, but it's still a lot of fun.
