Goldcrest
I suspected it when I got some sharp if, distant, shots in Scotland but this was the day when I was sure that the 40D would finally allow me to take the kind of Goldcrest images I had dreamed of taking since I first discovered them in the local woods and tried to capture them with my trusty Panasonic DMC-FZ20. Havent quite got there yet but thats down to me, not the camera.
Up early this morning and off on a trip to look for winter birds, in the darkness, rain and sleet according to the forecast. Hope its wrong!

Thank you all very much for the great response to this picture. There are quite a few more left to post from 3 separate occasions.
It wasn't exactly sunny yesterday but it was at least dry and after wandering about looking for winter birds that mostly weren't there (2 Rough-legged Buzzards at a distance was the high point) about half the group went into the centre of Uppsala to look for the Ural Owl that had been reported and found it where it had last been seen, in a tree in the grounds of a school. We got very close and I got a couple of pictures I'm fairly happy with though the light was atrocious. Great views and a lifer for me though.
