Golden Beauty (Pluvialis apricaria)

Another photo taken from the drivers seat whilst parked on the roadside. Many waders feed and nest beside the quiet moorland roads in this area. Close-up the golden colours really stand out against the grass and heather but from a distance the birds are barely visible - more often revealed by their beautiful haunting calls which carry far across the moors.
