Golden-crowned Snake (Cacophis squamulosus)

This is perhaps the prettiest snake in NSW, Australia. A smallish, forest dweller, nocturnal and here, ready to strike. Despite its ferocious appearance, they rarely bite, nor are dangerously venomous. Photographed at night on March 19, this year while spotlighting with a couple of mates. This is with the 100mm Canon EF macro lens, and it's a full frame image. :)
