Golden-Crowned Sparrow (first winter)
Taken at the Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline at approximately 8m.

Seems all the little sparrows around here are a variation on a theme...brown on brown, hint of black, white underside, and sometimes a little color or stripes on the head. Some days, what I wouldn't give for some more colorful birds. Maybe Spring will show me more parts of the rainbow? ;-p

But then again, can't argue with the camouflage when they are foraging on the ground in the early morning hours.

Great shot of this youngster Calvin. Hope you find more colors soon. I love the colors on the sparrows when the sun is showing them so well.
