Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula)

There seem to be loads of these around this year with around a dozen present here yesterday. Taken with the 400mm lens plus 1.5x teleconverter. Normally I find with the converter added the focus is too slow for flight photos but there was no chance to take it off when this Goldeneye came into land. Luckily it circled a couple of times giving a bit more time to get on it.
Location
Hurworth Burn Reservoir, County Durham, UK.
Date taken
12th January 2009
Scientific name
Bucephala clangula
Equipment used
Canon 40D+Canon 400mm f5,6+Kenko 1.5x Teleplus converter
