Good Goddy (Limosa limosa)

Well folks, home again after our latest little venture. We had a great time, and it gave Hazel a chance to catch up with a lot of her relations that she doesn't get to see very often. Not much birding, but did manage an afternoon at Minsmere on monday. The weather was hit and miss, but it was great to get some close views of these Godwits feeding. I am totally useless as to which of the species this bird is, I am going for Black-tailed Godwit, but I'm sure you knowledgeable people will put me right if its a Bar-tailed.

Glad you had a good time at Minsmere, Mali. I was looking at these Black-tailed Godwits there on Sunday and the colouring of some of them is absolutely stunning. Your photo shows it up really well. Nice one.

Very nice shot. :t:

I really need to get over to Minsmere, as it seems to hold so many treasures.

Great capture. It's always nice to see them when they first return and still full of colour.

Great shot, Mali. Looks like one of the Icelandic race to me. The darker colouration and pronounced barring on the flanks are characteristic of islandica.
