Grasshopper Warbler - Locustella naevia

Grasshopper Warbler - Locustella naevia (Locustella naevia)

Taken back in May 2015

A first for me as I had only ever heard these before and had never seen them which is usually the case with this pretty little warbler.
This one showed himself a few times and actually called but then disappeared totally although you could see the foliage moving as it burrowed its way through the grass and vegetation on the ground. This was sometimes virtually at your feet though still hidden from view !

Yeah.... I know what you mean John, though I've only heard them once over on the west coast.

You've a super picture of this guy lad - very well done.

What a great looking warbler. Excellent bit of focus and framed well with the natural vegetation. Top-notch John!

Many thanks everyone for your welcome comments.
This little bird spent a lot of time burrowing through the grass out of sight and you would be forgiven for thinking the movement caused by a small rodent or suchlike and not giving it another look.
John
