A marvellous picture you've taken of this heron Stanley.

They seem to have an extraordinary long neck, doesn't he. Can you tell me, do they normally fly with the neck extended, or is that just at the beginning/end of the flight?

lovely with its stretched neck, Stanley, superb inflight capture, love it, many tfs!!

Herons normally fly with their necks in a bend (tucked) while cranes fly with their necks stretched out. It is always nice to capture one that did not get the memo (lol). Thanks Delia!
