Great Egret with Dragonfly

Great Egret with Dragonfly (Ardea alba)

The egret had just snagged the dragonfly right out of the air! Now he need to figure out how to swallow it without it flying away.

I think the egret is just starting to develop its green breeding plumage.

This is about a 7.6x crop (based on diagonal) from the original frull-frame photo using a monopod. With a 500mm lens, this is about 3800mm equivalent focal length. The Canon EOS-R with 500mm f/4 IS ii has amazing resolution.
