Great Spotted Woodpecker and young (Dendrocopus major)

Difficult light meant trying to combine a fast shutter speed with exposure was a bit of a nightmare. The little one pops his head in and out at what seems a hundred miles an hour, a blur to the human eye, here they stopped briefly and I took full advantage.. All was left undisturbed and they didn't even know I was there.
